Harris County drivers have options when it comes to appealing traffic tickets. By enrolling in a defensive driving course, you may be able to have your Harris County traffic ticket dismissed from your driving record.
As the most populous county in the state of Texas, Harris County serves many residents. If your traffic ticket was issued in certain portions of Stafford or Pearland, Piney Point Village, Deer Park, Del Lago, La Porte, Jacinto City, Tomball, Walter, Webster, Hilshire Village, or any other town or city within Harris County city limits, your request to complete a driving course must be submitted to the County of Harris.
This request includes the completion of two forms- the actual request form, and a signed affidavit form. Both of these can be found on the County Website. To qualify for a traffic ticket dismissal course in Harris, Texas:
- You must request permission to take the course by the appearance date shown on the ticket, in person or by mail, and submit:
- A completed copy of the Affidavit form with notarized signature
- Proof of a valid non-commercial Texas driver's license
- A copy of your insurance policy
- A copy of your Driving Record, if required
- The court administrative fee
- You can NOT possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- You submit the certificate of completion to the course within 90 days once permission to take the course is granted
- You may NOT have had a ticket dismissed within the previous twelve months
- You must admit guilt or sign a statement that they do not contest their citation
- You may NOT have been cited for driving 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit
